The Rapid Prompting Method (RPM) is an academic teaching methodology designed for any neurodivergent student. Originally developed for non-verbal, not reliably verbal, and minimally verbal individuals, it uses a dynamic pacing sequence to keep the mind engaged while supporting motor output through whatever response mode fits the student best — choice boards, letterboards, spelling grids, typing, touch-screen based responses, or handwriting. That flexibility is what makes RPM effective for any student who struggles to show their true academic potential, sustain concentration, or communicate intentionally. There's no age limit, either — RPM can be started at any age, from young children through teens and adults. The goal underlying all of it is the same: training the student's brain toward intentional, purposeful communication.

About the Educator
I'm a Level 1 certified RPM practitioner, and I've been using this method with my own child for the past 1.5 years. My niche is designing RPM lessons that connect multiple subjects, ideas, and tools into a single lesson — blending writing, drawing, physical movement, typing, and more — rather than focusing on just one or two subjects at a time.
Why Connecting Subjects Keeps Students Engaged
The Lesson Plans page shows this niche in practice, not just in description. The Ancient Egypt lesson doesn't stop at history — it moves from the Nile's floods into geometry and surveying, from pyramid construction into physics and simple machines, and from architecture into astronomy and the calendar, all inside one sitting. The Zero & Negative Numbers lesson does the same, tracing a single concept from ancient Rome and India through place value, arithmetic rules, and real-world number lines in temperature, elevation, and money.
A few reasons this has made a real difference in keeping my own student engaged:
- Novelty sustains attention. Shifting between subjects and response types — spelling, pointing, true/false, multiple choice — before interest fades keeps the continuous prompting stream from going stale.
- Cross-subject connections build stronger recall. Tying a math concept to a historical story, or an engineering idea to a physics principle, gives the brain more than one hook to retrieve the information from later.
- Opinion and preference prompts build voice, not just recall. Every lesson includes questions with no right answer — calm river or ocean? mountain or submarine? — giving students practice using their communication system to express a genuine preference, not just to answer a test question.
- Mixing motor and cognitive demands prevents fatigue. Pointing tasks, spelling prompts, and fact-recall questions rotate through different output channels, so no single motor pattern gets overworked in one sitting.
